Coding, caffeine, and kernel panics—oh my!
If you're reading this, chances are you found me through FreeCodeCamp, Dev.to, or one of the few blogging platforms I occasionally post to. If not welcome aboard! ☕
I’ve always wanted to create a space that goes beyond typical blogs—a community where I can share anything and everything: blog-friendly content, raw experiments, and wild ideas. Substack felt like the perfect home for this dream, and Coffee & Kernels was born.
What’s Brewing?
The mission here is simple: to explore every facet of backend, web, and low-level engineering—one brew at a time. Whether you’re an advanced beginner or a seasoned dev, this is your chance to dive deeper, push boundaries, and grow in ways that make you irreplaceable.
You might be a web developer looking to level up or someone craving a peek into the backend and beyond. Either way, this platform is your gateway to understanding the lower levels of the web and building skills that truly set you apart.
Who Am I?
I’m a lead engineer at an AI/ML company, where I help build fraud detection solutions. My day-to-day includes managing three backend services written in Golang, Python, and Deno, while also maintaining a desktop app—and that’s just scratching the surface.
But here? Here, I’m going to teach you everything I know.
Current Series in Progress
Here’s a sneak peek at what’s brewing:
P2P Series: Building Livescribe, an open-source peer to peer writing app (desktop and mobile) in Go.
Custom Template Engine: Handcrafted from scratch.
Low-Level Libuv Server: A custom protocol and server adventure.
Windows Universal Meets WebView: Taking over in style.
RAG Apps: Exploring retrieval-augmented generation.
Custom Node.js C/C++ Modules: Pushing Node’s limits.
… and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. With over 13 articles and countless more ideas in the pipeline, there’s plenty to keep your mind buzzing (like that third cup of coffee).
